Mr. Hurkmans is the CEO and founder of 20/20 Capital Group.

Mr. Hurkmans is an energy, communications, and clean technology and water entrepreneur, having started, developed, sold and/or liquidated over 50 companies. Mr. Hurkmans has also consulted on strategic and financial matters to regional and supra-regional communications and data center companies.

In prior periods, Mr. Hurkmans assisted in the start up, business modeling, capital raising, and development of a project finance syndicate for The Efficiency Network, Inc. (TEN). Mr. Hurkmans was a part-owner of TEN and served as an advisor to the company until TEN was sold in August 2019 to Duquesne Light Holdings, a regional electric utility.

Founder and CEO of DQE Enterprises (the non-regulated arm of NYSE:DQE) - during the 12 years as CEO, Mr. Hurkmans assisted in starting H-Power/Plug Power, Satcon Technologies, DQE Communications, Beacon Power, Enermetrix, ITRON AMR, Body Media, National Water and Power and the Energy Facility at the Pittsburgh International Airport.

While Mr. Hurkmans was CEO of DQE Enterprises, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley both designated DQE Enterprises as the most successful developer of technology businesses addressing the utility industry.

Founder and CEO of Hurkmans Associates LLC – a predecessor company to the 20/20 Capital Group, whose activities, with Mr. Hurkmans as its 100% owner, included serving as financial advisor and capital partner on the acquisition of Chester Engineers by a much smaller ATS, Inc.; interim restructuring CFO of a regional telecom company (an assignment in connection with Mike Puskar, former CEO of Mylan Labs); special advisor to the Wright Fuel Cell Group (Case Western Reserve University), including its restructuring and sale; founder and CEO of BottomLine Resource Technologies (installer and operator of the largest solar/wind facility of any university in Ohio); founder and CFO of Juice Technologies (the technology developer behind GE's WattStation, the in-home electric vehicle charging station leader); and Co-founder and CFO of PlugSmart, a regional energy services company, which has four times made the INC. 5,000 fastest growing companies in the US distinction.

Investment banker with Merrill Lynch Capital Markets, focusing on M&A and the overall capital requirements for the energy, natural resources and utilities industries.

Founder and CEO of Organization Technologies Group, Inc. (eventually installing 25 percent of newsletter business software in use in the US).

Mr. Hurkmans graduated from Bates College (a top 20 liberal arts college; facilitated by an academic scholarship), with a BA in Economics (Valedictorian, Summa Cum Laude, and Highest Honors in Economics – a distinction earned, in part, by obtaining the highest score on the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) at Bates in the prior thirty (30) years). Mr. Hurkmans attended the London School of Economics, but decided not to pursue an advanced degree.

Mr. Hurkmans has served on numerous public, private and non-profit boards. Mr. Hurkmans is fluent in Dutch and reasonably conversant in Spanish. He resides in Pittsburgh with his wife, Diane, and their three young sons, Andres, Jacob and Samuel.
